Privacy Policy

Sleep Coach ("App", "we"), operated by Softweb, is a mobile application for sleep tracking and improvement. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we process it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. Sleep Coach is designed local-first: your sleep data, audio recordings, and personal settings are stored on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you first use the App, we ask onboarding questions to personalize your experience:

• Your sleep goals
• Your sleep concerns and last night's sleep quality
• Preferred bedtime and wake-up times
• Language and display preferences

This information is stored only on your device.

1.2 Sleep and Health Data

Data processed automatically during sleep tracking:

• Sleep session start/end times
• Sleep stages (Light, Deep, REM, Awake) — computed on your device
• Sleep score
• Deviations from your target bedtime and wake-up times
• Sound events detected (snoring, coughing, talking, movement) — classified on your device using Google's YAMNet model; no audio is sent to any server

1.3 Microphone and Audio Recordings

1.4 Device Information and Anonymous Usage Analytics (Firebase)

Limited anonymous data processed via Google Firebase services to keep the App running smoothly and improve it:

• Firebase Analytics — Anonymous Firebase App Instance ID (persistent UUID, not linked to your identity), device model, OS version, language, screen size, app version, approximate location estimated from IP (country/city), in-app action events (screen views, paywall interactions, sleep session stats, audio/music playback, alarm creation). Stored on Google servers for 14 months.
• Firebase Crashlytics — Automatic anonymous crash reports (stack trace, device model info). Your personal data is not included.
• Firebase Performance Monitoring — App startup time, screen render speed, network request latency.

1.5 Subscription and Payment Information (Sleep Coach Premium)

When you subscribe to Premium:

• Subscription status, start, and renewal dates
• Purchase history (managed via Google Play Billing)

1.6 Ads (Google AdMob)

Sleep Coach's free version may display ads via Google AdMob. Data used for ads:

• Your device's anonymous advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
• Approximate location from IP address
• Device type and OS version
• App category information

Personalized Ads: Determined by EU/UK/Swiss users' choice in the consent dialog on first launch. With consent, personalized ads; without, generic ads.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected only for the following purposes:

• Sleep analyses and reports: Daily, weekly, and monthly charts; sleep score; sound event summaries.
• Smart wake and alarm: Wake during a light sleep phase; bedtime reminders; pre-sleep charging reminders.
• Personalized recommendations: "For You Today" rotation based on your onboarding answers.
• AI Coach feature: Optional AI-powered chat (see Section 4).
• App improvement: Anonymous crash reports.
• Premium subscription management.

We do not use your data for advertising or personalized ads. Sleep Coach is ad-free.

3. Where We Store Data

Note: Anonymous aggregate metrics (sleep session duration/score summaries, in-app events, device info) are sent to Google servers via Firebase Analytics — they cannot be linked to your user identity and are used only to improve the product.

When you uninstall the App, all Sleep Coach data on your device is deleted. Additionally, from Account > My Data, you can always:

• Delete last night's data
• Delete the past week's data
• Delete all data and reset the app

4. AI Coach Feature and Data Sharing with Anthropic

The AI Coach feature uses Anthropic's Claude language model. Only when you actively use this feature, the following is sent to Anthropic's servers:

• The messages you send to AI Coach
• Anonymous context (e.g., average sleep score over the past week) — aggregated data that cannot be linked to your identity

Information not sent to Anthropic:

• Your name, email, or phone (we don't collect these)
• Your audio recordings
• Detailed sleep session history
• Device identifiers

Anthropic processes data under its privacy policy (anthropic.com/privacy). Under Anthropic's standard API terms, your AI Coach queries are not used to train Claude.

If you don't wish to use AI Coach, simply don't send any messages; all other features continue to work.

5. Health Connect Integration (Optional)

Sleep Coach can integrate with Android Health Connect. This is optional and is not active until you explicitly grant permission. With permission:

• We can read previously recorded sleep sessions from Health Connect
• We can write sessions recorded by Sleep Coach to Health Connect

We do not upload Health Connect data to our servers. You can revoke permissions at any time via Android Settings > Health Connect.

6. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Limited sharing occurs only with the service providers below, only as needed to provide the service:

Beyond these, we may provide limited data when required by law (court orders, investigations, etc.).

7. Your Rights (KVKK / GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Right to be informed: Learn what data we process about you.
• Right of access: Request a copy of your data.
• Right to rectification: Have inaccurate data corrected.
• Right to erasure: Request deletion — you can do this instantly via Account > My Data.
• Right to restrict and object to processing.
• Right to data portability: Receive a copy in a structured format.
• CCPA (California residents): We confirm we do not sell your data.
• GDPR Consent: EU/UK/Swiss users can refuse data collection via the consent dialog on first launch.

If you reside in Türkiye, you have the right to file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority: kvkk.gov.tr. EU residents may contact their member state's data protection authority.

8. Data Retention

• Sleep data and sound event recordings: Until you delete them or uninstall the App (on-device).
• Crash reports: Maximum 90 days.
• Subscription records: 10 years per Turkish Tax Procedure Code (anonymous billing).
• AI Coach requests: Per Anthropic's retention policy, maximum 30 days (abuse monitoring).
• Firebase Analytics data: 14 months (on Google servers).

9. Children's Privacy

Sleep Coach is intended for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with information, please contact us; we will delete it immediately.

10. Data Security

Measures we take to protect your data:

• On-device database uses Android's standard encryption layer.
• All network communication uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
• Third-party APIs (Anthropic) receive only anonymous, non-identifying data.
• Music content is served over HTTPS via GitHub Releases and cached locally on your device.
• Firebase data is transmitted encrypted with HTTPS/TLS 1.2+.
• AdMob ad data is only shared in anonymous categories.
• EU users can refuse data collection via the Google UMP consent dialog.

However, no electronic transmission or storage method is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, AdMob and AI Coach (Anthropic) data may be transferred to USA and EU servers. Google and Anthropic provide GDPR-compliant transfer mechanisms via EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC).

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via an in-app notice and by updating this page. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
